Canvas lets you focus more on teaching (and less on tasks) by providing equitable access and instructional continuity for every student, everywhere, every day. Canvas is the robust digital foundation for all aspects of learning and is outfitted with smart, intuitive features that will help take learning to the next level. Teachers can communicate with individual students, groups, the entire class, or even parents through messaging, audio notes, video, and more. Students can collaborate among themselves via chat group, video, and other messaging tools.

Framing the Lesson Badge Requirements
The teacher must include a screenshot of their objectives or closing activity that is housed inside of Canvas. Your evidence must show unique features of Canvas. Ex- The Canvas navigation menu or tools must be included in your screenshot.

Examples of Framing the Lesson using Canvas: 

  • Use Pages for sharing all of your lesson objectives so students can easily refer back to them during class time
  • Utilize modules to organize your Close activities (assignments, quizzes, discussions, etc.) 

Critical Writing Badge Requirements
The teacher must include a screenshot of student responses to a Critical Writing prompt using Canvas. Your evidence must show unique features of Canvas. Ex- The Canvas navigation menu or tools must be included in your screenshot.

Examples of Critical Writing using Canvas: 

  • Use Discussions within Canvas to allow for rich, fluid writing tasks that are easy to manage for the instructor
  • Have students complete an assignment using the text response submission type to respond critically to a prompt

Recognize & Reinforce Badge Requirements
The teacher must submit a screenshot of personalized feedback in Canvas. Your evidence must show unique features of Canvas. Ex- The Canvas navigation menu or tools must be included in your screenshot.

Examples of Recognize & Reinforce using Canvas: 

  • Use instructor feedback tools such as audio feedback or video feedback to encourage student growth and success
  • Comment directly on student assignments using personalized language and encouragement
